Anion Ion Exchange Resin
Anion exchange resins are made consisting of a polymeric matrix with various functional groups bonded to it. Tertiary amino groups are found in the majority of weakly basic anion exchangers, with primary and secondary groups appearing in a few examples. Weakly basic anion exchangers are frequently multifunctional, containing a range of amino groups. Quaternary ammonium groups are found in strongly basic resins. –N+(CH3)3 groups (type 1 resins) or –N+(CH3)2C2H4OH groups (type 2 resins) are found in most commercially available exchangers (type 2 resins). Gel-type and macroporous versions of weakly and strongly basic exchange resins are available.
